I enjoy creating contemplative works that serve as a canvas for the imagination of those who view them. My goal is to establish an intimate connection between the viewer and the image.
Rather than merely depicting or documenting the world as I see it, I strive to feel the landscape and seek out what in the external world stirs an emotional response within me.
The predominance of black expanses in my photographs plays a vital role. They isolate the subject, erasing any referential context.
In this sense, they create a bubble, a pause where time is suspended, and the constraints of the environment fade away. Like a cocoon, these vast stretches of black offer a protected space where emotional and sensory sensitivity can flourish in a sheltered setting.
Street photography in Paris is my main activity. The street notebooks are presenting an overview of photographs taken during those poetic wanderings that I have been practicing for years.
Coming from a family accustomed to travel, I have had an interest in Elsewhere since childhood. I am always looking for my next trip. In this section I present to you the memories gleaned during my travels.
Since childhood, I have loved wandering through cemeteries, reading the engraved names, discovering the professions of those who rest there, and imagining what their lives might have been like. Cemeteries bring me a sense of serenity. While our time on Earth is fleeting, the tombstones extend our presence through the passage of time.
Two chairs intertwined, one chair overturned, a cluster of chairs neatly aligned... Captured in Parisian gardens, these photographs of chairs tell the story of their previous occupants, whom we never actually see.
Unlike some street photographers, I tend to keep a certain distance from my subject. I see this as a way to spark the viewer's imagination. *"Va-et-vient"* is a long-term series that features characters often reduced to their legs, crossing or escaping the frame.
The defining feature of *"Fragments"* lies in its status as an artistic project that repurposes pre-existing photographs. Here, the fragments are no larger than 1500 pixels, standing in stark contrast to the prevailing narrative that equates ever-increasing pixel counts with the hallmark of a successful photograph.
An artistic residency is a significant milestone in an artist's career—a creative interlude that enriches the artist both personally and professionally. Here, you will find my experiences in this field.
